Hot Jupiters slow down the aging of their stars

An international group of researchers led by the Institute of Astrophysics named after. Leibniz in Potsdam

published the results of observing stars fromusing the Chandra X-ray Observatory. The collected data suggests that the stars around which hot Jupiters orbit remain young longer.

Planetologists call it a hot Jupiteran exoplanet whose mass is approximately equal to the mass of a gas giant in the solar system. Unlike Jupiter, such planets orbit very close to their star (about 0.05 AU, 5–10 times less than the distance from Mercury to the Sun). Because of this, the temperature on them reaches extremely high values. 

Astrophysicists have studied over thirty binarystellar systems in which the stars are located at a fairly large distance from each other and only one of them has a hot Jupiter rotating. Just as twins are born at the same time and have many similar features, so such stars are formed at the same time.

The study found that the star in each pair near which a gas giant was discovered was brighter in the X-ray range and therefore more active than its companion. 

Astrophysicists believe that hot Jupiteracts on its star with tidal forces, causing it to rotate faster than if it did not have such a planet. The acceleration increases the activity of the star, causing it to produce more X-rays. Both of these signs are associated with stellar youth.
