How a dog flew into space to test the reliability of the ship of Yuri Gagarin

On March 9, 1961, the Sputnik-9 spacecraft was launched in the USSR. He became the fourth man in space

a satellite ship and an early modification of the Vostok manned spacecraft, on which Yuri Gagarin successfully flew into space in April of the same year.

On board the device was a full-size mannequin of a man (his name was “Ivan Ivanovich”), a dog nicknamed Chernushka, as well as several mice, rats and a guinea pig.
