Scientists have calculated what the energy of the asteroid that fell to Earth is equivalent to and is believed to be
According to the head of the research teamUniversity of Michigan, the impact of the asteroid released energy "equivalent to the yield of 10 billion atomic bombs used during World War II." According to scientists, this caused intense seismic activity that lasted from "several weeks to several months."
The researchers learned this by examining geographic patterns from Colombia, Mexico and the United States during the fall of the asteroid. They also confirmed that the disaster caused a massive tsunami.
