The author of the LOW FPS Gaming channel checkedperformance of the NVIDIA RTX 3060 graphics accelerator installed in Asus Rog Zephyrus G14, Acer Predator Helios 300 and MSI GP66 Leopard laptops in 10 gaming projects. Among the games – Red Dead Redemption 2, Assassin's Creed Valhalla, Cyberpunk 2077, GTA V, Battlefield V, Metro Exodus, Shadow Of The Tomb Raider, Call Of Duty Warzone, Rainbow Six Siege, Borderlands 3. Thermal design power (TDP) of video cards was equal to 80 W, 100 W and 130 W. Let us remind you that in 2021, NVIDIA began to hide the Max-Q index, which indicates the low TDP value of a laptop model: you can find out the TDP only in the characteristics of the video card. The lower the TDP, the lower the computer's performance.
Red dead redemption 2ran in 1080p resolution with highsettings. The average number of frames at TDP 80 W was 42 fps, at 100 W – 25 fps, at 130 W – 46 fps. In rare events, performance dropped to 36 fps, 45 fps and 46 fps, respectively. As you can see, the difference here is insignificant.
ProjectAssassin's Creed ValhallaLaunched on ultra settings at 1080p.The only noticeable difference was between TDP 80 W and 130 W. The average number of frames at 80 W was 55 fps, at 100 W – 61 fps, and at 130 W – 68 fps. Performance in rare events deteriorated only to 39 fps, 45 fps and 50 fps.
INCyberpunk 2077set the same parameters as in Red DeadRedemption 2: high graphics settings, 1080p. The average performance here also increased as TDP increased: 55 fps, 64 fps and 71. In rare events, the results were as follows: 46 fps, 54 fps and 59 fps.
Gta vwent with maximum settings and still the same1080p resolution. On average, the number of frames was around 60 or higher: 57 fps, 66 fps, 68 fps. In rare events it remained above 30 fps: 44 fps, 50 fps and 52 fps.
The shooter was going pretty badMetro exodusat 1080p and Extreme settings: average number of frames – 30 fps, 35 fps and 38 fps, and in rare events – 26 fps, 29 fps and 31 fps.
The game ran best on laptopsRainbow six siege... With graphics settings "Ultra" and 1080p Mediumperformance reached 198 fps, 246 fps and 294 fps at TDPs of 80 W, 100 W and 130 W, respectively. The values in rare events were also high: 135 fps, 173 fps and 221 fps.
INBattlefield vThe performance results were alsohigher than in other games. It ran at 1080p with ultra settings. The average number of frames here was 94 fps, 112 fps and 123 fps. In rare events, performance dropped to 61 fps, 89 fps and 96 fps, respectively. About the same thing can be said about the performance of video cards when playingShadow of the tomb raider. On average, the performance values in itwere as follows: 93 fps, 101 fps and 109 fps. In rare events they changed to 75 fps, 83 fps and 88 fps. The project was launched at the level of Battlefield V in terms of performanceCall of duty warzone: on ultra settings in 1080p, average values reached 94 fps, 109 fps and 123 fps, respectively, and in rare events – 69 fps, 79 fps and 87 fps.
The last game launched wasBorderlands 3... Here the average performance was above 60 fps: 63 fps, 72 fps, 76 fps. In rare events, it dropped to 45 fps, 54 fps, and 57 fps.
