How scammers apply for credits for ad service users

Cybersecurity expert “Kaspersky Lab” Viktor Chebyshev told the Russians how

Fraudsters manage to issue loans to users of ad services. Discuss

“Attackers use ad service toobtaining a database of active telephone numbers of subscribers of cellular networks. At the first stage, scammers, under the guise of ordering goods through delivery, persuade the victim to enter bank card details and make a payment for an arbitrary amount, ostensibly to verify that this is really a merchant's card and money can be transferred to it, ”Chebyshev warned.

Subsequently, as part of this scheme, the victim is toldthat the payment was not completed successfully, asking you to try the transfer again. There can be any number of the latter until the user realizes that the amount in his account is decreasing. If the transaction is successful, the user is included in the so-called “white list” scammers, which means further attacks in the future.

So, manually or by means of special programsScammers make attempts to authorize from the victim's number at all sites that can be accessed by phone number. This, in turn, leads to a stream of messages to the user's number, which makes using a smartphone inconvenient and can take a long time. Subsequently, the scammers call the victim, informing him of the need to send screenshots of messages, on which, by the way, you can see the access code to the website of the microfinance organization.

“If the user submits this screenshot, thenattackers will also issue a loan to the victim, since for an MFI a phone number is sufficient for a microloan. In this case, the real money from the MFO goes to the fraudsters' card, and the user is left with a formalized debt, ”the expert warned.
