How the Galaxy Note 10 camera shoots: sample photos, comparison with iPhone XS

A couple of days ago, the Korean manufacturer introduced the new Samsung Galaxy Note 10 and Note 10+, which received a premium

set of technical characteristics. In addition to the maximum display size, manufacturers today pay special attention to the camera and its capabilities.

Recall the characteristics of the camera of each flagship:

Samsung Galaxy Note 10

  • 12MP f / 1.5-f / 2.4, OIS
  • 12MP 2x telephoto 52mm, f / 2.1, OIS
  • 16MP ultra-wide 13mm, f / 2.2

Samsung Galaxy Note 10+

  • 12MP f / 1.5-f / 2.4, OIS
  • 12MP 2x telephoto 52mm, f / 2.1, OIS
  • 16MP ultra-wide 13mm, f / 2.2
  • Tof depth sensor

The front camera on both phones is 10 megapixels.

While new smartphones have not appeared atusers, we have the opportunity to see examples of photos taken on the Galaxy Note 10 and Note 10+ after the presentation. Also, foreign bloggers made a small comparison of photos with the iPhone XS to visually see the difference.

It is worth noting that over the past few yearsSamsung focused on color reproduction and sharpness. In the past, the company also struggled with yellowish colors, but this year the balance seems to be more balanced.

Ultra Wide Angle Telephoto Lens

Telephoto lens

One thing you can notice in this shorttest drive of the camera is that if you switch to the Note 10's telephoto lens, you may end up with less bright photos — the colors are washed out as if there is a white sheet in the photo. This may be subject to change, or the issue may only occur in certain scenarios. But the iPhone XS retains its colors in telephoto mode compared to the Samsung's duller shot:

The following shot demonstrates Samsung's penchant for over-sharpening details.

At the front there is a front camera, whichoffers Live Focus feature. If the light is not perfect, you may notice a slight noise immediately. But otherwise everything is quite good when shooting dynamic shots with complex highlights. The artificial bokeh effect is quite accurate, but there are still some nuances.

Of course, give a note 10 camera evaluation yettoo early. According to preliminary tests of foreign colleagues, it is quite attractive and gives good pictures, as is the case with the Galaxy S10. There are some disadvantages and certain nuances, shortcomings. But it is possible that the manufacturer will release a separate patch in order to better adjust the capabilities of the camera.
