How to install iOS 9.3 on iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch

Today Apple released iOS 9.3 for the iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch, which includes several new features and improvements.

The latest iOS 9.3 update is available as a free update for the following iOS devices:

  • iPod Touch 6th Generation, iPod Touch 5th Generation

It will never be superfluous to back up your iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch before updating their iOS software.

You can back up your iOS device using iTunes or iCloud.

How to install iOS 9.3 update wirelessly (over the air OTA):

Before starting the download, connect the deviceto the charger to charge it. Downloading and installing can take from several minutes to an hour, depending on the load on Apple servers and your Internet connection. You can also connect your iPhone to a local WiFi network to update iOS for free without using mobile connection traffic.

Once you are connected to a Wi-Fi network, open Settings and click on General> Software Update. iOS will automatically check for updates and let you know that a software update is available.

Note: If you have a jailbreak, you need to install the update using iTunes, since with the OTA update, as you know, problems can occur.

Click Download to download the update. Wait for the download to finish, and then click Install to install the update. Your iPhone or iPad will download the update and send you a notification when it is ready. Go back to Settings> General> Software Update , and then click Install to install the downloaded iOS update file.

How to install iOS 9.3 update using iTunes:

If you have not received the iOS 9 update.3 by Air (OTA), as mentioned above, then you can download iOS 9.3 from an official source (links are provided below) and use iTunes to manually update your iOS device. Also, installing the update using iTunes may come in handy if you do not have enough space on the device to update via OTA.

Before connecting the device, make sure that you are using the latest version of iTunes. Click on iTunes or Help in the menu bar, and then click on “Updates”.

After checking the version of iTunes, proceed to the following steps:

Step 1: Connect your device to your computer using a USB cable. Wait for iTunes to start on your computer, or launch it manually to open and connect to the device.

Step 2: Click the device button to the left of the iTunes Store button in the upper right corner of iTunes.

Step 3: Click on Update directly without holding down the Option or Shift key. If an iOS 9.3 update is available, it will automatically download and start updating the device to iOS 9.3.

Step 4: You will receive a pop-up message informing you that a new update is available. Click on the button Download and update. If a message appears that iOS 8.3 is the latest available version, then download the appropriate firmware file using the download links provided in step 5.

Step 5: Skip this step if everything went well in the previous steps.

Note: If you download the firmware file using Safari, make sure that the automatic unpacking function is disabled or use Chrome or Firefox.

Check the back cover of your iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch to find out your model number and download the file from the appropriate link.

Step 6: You will receive a pop-up message informing you that iTunes will update the iPhone / iPad / iPod Touch with iOS 9.3 firmware.

Step 7: Check out what's new in iOS 9.3. Click on the button Further. Then click I agree.

Step 8: iTunes will start downloading the firmware file (this maytake a lot of time, depending on your internet connection). After downloading the file, it will process the firmware file, extract the software, prepare the device for updating and install it.

Step 9: Do not turn off the device untilthe update will not be completed. This may take several minutes. Your device will be updated to iOS 9.3 firmware and will reboot once or twice during the update process.
