We all know the legendary shutter sound of an iPhone camera. Unfortunately, you can not turn it off completely. but
1. Use Silent Mode
On the left side of your iPhone there is a small Silent Mode switch. Just activate the silent mode before taking a photo to turn off the camera shutter sound.
In the same way you can take screenshots without sound.
2. Use cunning with the song
This method works in iOS 11, 10, 9, 8 and newer versions of the system.
- Launch the Music app and turn on any song.
- Use the volume buttons to completely turn off the sound.
- Use the Camera app as usual, and you will not hear the familiar shutter sound.
The most important thing in this method is to turn off the volume to zero in the Music application.
3. Use jailbreak tweak
Some tweaks in Cydia allow you to turn off iPhone camera sound. For users with a jailbreak there is a more complex way, which we describe at the end of this article.
For example, jailbreak tweak Silent Photo Chill disables not only the iPhone camera shutter sound, but also the screenshot sound. Another similar tweak is SnapTap. Both work fine.
4. Use the app iFile
On devices with a jailbreak, applications like iFile are used to modify system files.
You can rename the shutter sound file to disable it completely. To do this, use the following commands:
mv /System/Library/Audio/UISounds/photoShutter.caf
/System/Library/Audio/UISounds/photoShutter-off.caf
Just replace “photoShutter.caf” with something else. The name must be short and contain the same extension.
To undo an action, use the following commands:
mv /System/Library/Audio/UISounds/photoShutter-off.caf
/System/Library/Audio/UISounds/photoShutter.caf
If you are using iFile or a similar application, you will find the file in:
/ System / Library / Audio / UISounds /
other methods
The last solution we can yousuggest, this is a third-party camera application. Download the app you like from the App Store and take pictures without sound. By the way, we have a selection with the best camera applications for your device.
Images taken in the application will be saved in the Photo as usual.
Perhaps in the future, iOS will add the ability to turn the camera shutter sound on and off as desired.
