Huawei has confirmed the imminent announcement of the Kirin 990 - processor for the Mate 30 and folding Mate X

There have long been rumors on the Internet that Huawei is preparing a new flagship Kirin processor, but its exact name

was unknown. Now company representatives have confirmed that this is still the Kirin 990, and its release is very soon.

What it is

According to the President of Huawei in the European region and Canada, Yanming Wang, it will indeed be the Kirin 990, and the new processor is designed for flagship smartphones at the end of 2019-2020.

Yangming Wang says Kirin 990 will receiveand the foldable smartphone Huawei Mate X, sales of which should start in November. By the way, at the time of the official presentation (which was back in February), the Mate X had a Kirin 980, but over time they decided to replace it with a new platform.

In addition, it can be assumed that the flagships of the Mate 30 family, which should debut in September, will also receive the Kirin 990.

Kirin 990 will be produced using a 7nm process technology with a built-in 5G modem. They also promise improved energy efficiency.

When?

The presentation of the Kirin 990 processor is expected on September 6, on the first day of the IFA 2019 exhibition in Berlin, as hinted at by Huawei’s teaser on Twitter.
