Huawei has unexpectedly released an update for its 5-year-old flagship, the Mate 8.

Let's remember that Huawei Mate 8 was introduced in 2015 and ran EMUI 4.0 based on Android. 6.0. After two OS updates, it now has EMUI 8.0 based on Android 8.0.
The update numbered NXT-AL10 comes with EMUI 8.0 version 8.0.0.850 (C00) and a 222MB update package size.

The firmware brings the July security patch, a smart feature to detect abnormal battery charging, and also a battery fault detection feature.
For now, the update is available only to users from China, but it should be released on the international market in the near future.
