Huawei has updated the flagship of 2015 Mate 8

Huawei has unexpectedly released an update for its 5-year-old flagship, the Mate 8.

What's updated

As a reminder, Huawei Mate 8 was introduced in 2015 and ran EMUI 4.0 based on Android. 6.0. After two OS updates, it now has EMUI 8.0 based on Android 8.0.

The update numbered NXT-AL10 ships with EMUI 8.0 version (C00) and a 222 MB service pack size.

The firmware brings the July security patch, smart function for detecting abnormal battery charging, and battery failure detection function.

So far, the update is only available to users from China, but in the near future it should be released on the international market.
