Huawei is cheating again: photos from a smartphone were actually taken with a $ 3,000 DSLR

Year after year, Huawei smartphones have some of the best cameras on the market and top DxOMark ratings.

But despite this, Huawei continues to cheat with photos allegedly taken on its smartphones.

What's wrong

This time the scandal broke out over a photo competition, which Huawei announced to promote its flagship Huawei P40 Pro. To motivate participants, the company showed a video with impressive photographs that read: “made with Huawei smartphones.”

But one of the attentive users noticedAmong them are several familiar photographs. It turned out that these photos were taken using a Nikon D850 DSLR camera worth $3,000. Their author is Su Tie, who previously collaborated with Huawei, and the originals are in one of the Chinese photo banks.

Huawei admitted its mistake and apologized for ithistory. As company representatives explained, the embarrassment occurred due to an inattentive editor who signed the photographs incorrectly. But in fact, the pictures should “inspire” the participants of the competition. The video has already been re-uploaded, removing the inscription “made with the help of Huawei smartphones.”

By the way, this is not the first such scandal for Huawei. For example, last year the same situation happened with the Huawei P30, and in 2016 with the Huawei P9.
