Huawei Mate X2: Galaxy Z Fold 2 competitor with dual 90Hz OLED screens, revamped hinge, Kirin 9000 chip and $ 2,785 quad camera

Huawei, as promised, today held a presentation in China of its third foldable smartphone, the Mate X2.

What is known

The new product differs from Mate X and Mate Xsupdated design. Now the smartphone bends inward rather than outward. That is, the device is similar to its main competitor - the Galaxy Z Fold 2. In addition, the smartphone was equipped with an updated hinge, which has become stronger. It is made using liquid zirconium metal, steel and carbon fiber composites.

As for displays, there are two of them in the device:the main one is 8.01 inches without holes and cutouts with a resolution of 2480x2220p, as well as an additional “punch-hole” screen of 6.45 inches (2700x1160p). Both panels are made using OLED technology and support a 90Hz refresh rate.

Under the hood of the Huawei Mate X2 they installed a proprietaryKirin 9000 processor. By the way, it powers the Huawei Mate 40 Pro and Mate 40 Pro+ smartphones. This is a 5-nanometer SoC with a Mali-G78 graphics accelerator and a built-in 5G modem. The chip comes paired with 8GB of RAM and two storage options: 256GB or 512GB. The device is powered by a 4500 mAh battery. It supports 55-watt fast charging.

There are five cameras in the smartphone:single front 16 MP and main with four sensors 50 MP + 16 MP + 12 MP + 8 MP. It supports 10x optical zoom and 100x digital zoom. In addition, the main camera can record video with a resolution of 3840x2160p.

The Huawei Mate X2 comes with the Android 10 operating system and EMUI 11.0 shell. Naturally, there are no Google services here. By the way, the new product weighs 295 grams.

Price and when to wait

The device has already appeared in China with a price tag of $2,785. Available in black, white, blue and pink colors.
