Huawei unlocked bootloader for Mate 30 and Mate 30 Pro owners

It seems that Huawei has found another way to attract interest in the new flagships Mate 30 and Mate 30 Pro in

the effects of US sanctions and the lack of Google services.

What came up

The head of Huawei Consumer Business Group, Richard Yu, told reporters that the new models will come with an unlocked bootloader. Although the company did not do this before for security reasons.

But circumstances forced Huawei to unlock the bootloader, so users can install Google Play and other Google services themselves.

“We have limited [bootloader unlocking] becausethat we wanted to guarantee more safety for consumers. But this time we'll give consumers more freedom to make more customizations themselves. So we plan to allow consumers to do that,” said Richard Yu.

However, it is not yet clear whether the bootloader on smartphones will be unlocked out of the box, or whether users will have to solve this problem on their own.
