The European Space Agency and NASA have published a new image taken by Hubble. It depicts
In the picture you can see a bright nucleus with spotsdark dust and less clear, dull spiral arms of cool colors. The most interesting feature is the long and weak tidal streams emerging from the spiral arms. One of them in the image stretches upward, and the other bends downward.

Researchers believe that in the past of the galaxythere was some interaction with other objects. The gravity of the two bodies changed the streams of dust and stars orbiting the galactic core and pulled them out in a bizarre shape. The researchers believe that the analysis of observations of such galaxies will help to better understand the evolution of the universe.
The ESO 415-19 galaxy image is part of a largestudies of peculiar (irregular) galaxies included in a special list. The Catalog of Peculiar Galaxies (ARP) was developed and published by astrophysicists at Caltech back in 1966. It includes 338 "outlandish" galaxies. Among them are bizarre lonely galaxies that keep the history of past collisions, mergers or interactions, and groups of galaxies that are changing right now.
