The European Space Agency has published a new image of the supernova remnant DEM L 190, located in
A flame-shaped supernova remnant occupies the centerand top. It consists of many long filaments and thin layers of gas that glow brightly in orange and blue. Its edges outline faint gas clouds.
This is not the first image of this supernova thatmade by Hubble. The previous data, obtained in 2003, was used by astrophysicists to study the interaction between supernova remnants and the interstellar medium, a rarefied mixture of gas and dust that lies between stars.

A re-examination was required tocollect more information about the origin of a mysterious object that lurks inside supernova remnants and regularly emits high-energy gamma-ray bursts.
The researchers believe that the cloud of debrisa supernova 75 light years wide is not all that was left after the explosion. Perhaps it hides a rapidly rotating neutron star, formed when the core of a massive star collapsed under the enormous internal pressure of its own gravity. The collected data will help scientists confirm or refute this theory.
