Hydrogen-fueled catamaran created in Europe

The Swedish company Green City Ferries, together with colleagues from Italy and New Zealand, has developed the world's first

hydrogen-powered catamaran called Beluga24. At first the ship will be experimental and will ply the waterways of Stockholm. Discuss

It is noted that such a development is one of theserious steps to move Sweden away from environmental pollution by carbon dioxide emissions. Stockholm ships now account for 5% of energy consumption, but CO2 emissions are 50% annually.

In this regard, Green City Ferriespresented prototypes of the world's first hydrogen catamaran. The vessel will be built of carbon fiber and will have a layer of foil in the middle, which will reduce drag and increase its cruising range. As a power plant, the catamaran will receive an Echandia hydrogen engine with batteries and fuel cells. Since it will consume negligible amounts of fuel, this will result in significant savings in vessel weight.
