IFA 2019: new laptops ASUS ProArt, ASUSPRO B9 and smartphone ASUS ROG Phone II with your own eyes

</ img>

ASUS presented an impressive number of new products at IFA 2019, including updated gaming laptops that have already

previously presented ASUS ROG Phone II, whichNow it has reached Europe and has acquired official prices. But the main emphasis was placed on a series of devices under the general name ProArt. It includes computers, laptops and monitors that are aimed at creators of various types of content: photos, videos, 3D graphics, effects, and so on. The line has been around for several years, but right now the company decided to take a closer look at ProArt and “rolled out” a very large number of new products at once. In particular, a whole scattering of laptops whose characteristics are not inferior to, and sometimes even superior to, gaming models: top-end processors are installed inside, up to Xeon server processors, and for graphics processing – Nvidia RTX Quadro solutions.

ASUS ProArt StudioBook One

The most unusual of the new laptops has becomeflagship ASUS ProArt StudioBook One (W590). And it is interesting not only for its powerful filling, but also for its unusual design. All the power of the laptop is located in the display unit, and the keyboard unit is made thin. When you open the laptop, the lid of the display unit opens (like the Zephyrus series) for good cooling of the insides. The design is unusual and the display unit is thicker and heavier than the keyboard, but (in theory) thanks to this arrangement, the laptop can be kept on its knees even at maximum loads.

The keyboard block and the keyboard itself are not quitestandard: key travel is slightly reduced. It is difficult to say how convenient this will be in practice. According to first personal impressions, there will not be any special difficulties. The touchpad is very impressive diagonally and is superbly made: glass with a pleasant coating and very high sensitivity make it extremely convenient. Again, subjectively, this is one of the best (if not the best) touchpad I've ever used.

Now about the insides. The laptop is equipped with NVIDIA Quadro RTX 6000 graphics with 24 GB of video memory. Processor – Intel Core i9-9980HK with a clock speed of 2.4 GHz and Turbo Boost technology up to 5 GHz. RAM is 32 GB DDR4, and a 1 TB PCIe NVMe SSD is installed for data storage. The laptop comes with a 15.6-inch 4K 120Hz display with Gorilla Glass 5. The screen is Pantone certified and has a color gamut of 100% RGB color space. The only connectors are 3xType-C with support for Thunderolt 3 and DisplayPort 1.4. The laptop weighs 2.9 kg.

The next new product is ProArt StudioBook Pro X W730.It already has a more familiar form factor, is equipped with a main display with a diagonal of 17.3 inches and a resolution of 1920x1200 (19:10 aspect ratio); it also has Pantone certification. The additional ScreenPad 2.0 display is combined with a touchpad. Inside there could be a 6-core Intel Xeon E-2276M clocked at 2.8 GHz, Turbo Boost up to 4.7 GHz, or a 6-core Intel Core i7-9750H clocked at 2.6 GHz Turbo Boost up to 4.5 GHz . Video card - NVIDIA Quadro RTX 5000 with 16 GB of video memory. The laptop can have an impressive 128 GB of RAM and up to 6 TB of storage (2 x SSD, NVMe, PCIe Gen3 x4, 1 x HDD), supported by RAID 0/1 based on SSDs directly attached to the processor (up to 48 Gbps).

Two more models - ASUS ProArt StudioBook 17(H700) and ProArt StudioBook 15 (H500), in general, they repeat the characteristics of StudioBook Pro, including analog screens, processors up to Xeon, amounts of RAM and storage. The main difference is the graphic component. Instead of the Quadro line, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 with 6 GB of video memory is used. Below is a slide with the entire new line. They are also expected in Ukraine, but so far there is no information on prices and timing.

ASUSPRO B9 (B9450)

</ img>

Continuing the theme of laptops, which are primarilyqueues are designed for work, another new product from IFA 2019 is ASUSPRO B9 (B9450). The line is also not new and was presented to us before. The main feature of the AsusPro B9 laptop is its very light weight: only 880 g with a 14-inch display. This applies to the model with a 33 Wh battery. A model with a larger 66 Wh battery will also be available; it weighs 990 g, which is also very little. The laptop really feels incredibly light, but it doesn't feel flimsy or unreliable. Apparently, the body is made of some kind of magnesium alloy. The design uses the already familiar ErgoLift mechanism, which lifts the back of the bottom cover when open.

</ img>

The bezels around the screen are very thin, andThe 14-inch FullHD display occupies 94% of the front panel. Inside, the 10th generation Intel Core processors of the mobile U series will be installed. The laptop can install up to two PCIe SSDs with a capacity of 1 TB, which can be combined into RAID0/1 arrays. Network capabilities are represented by a Wi-Fi 6 module and a Mini Ethernet port. I suspect that the kit will include an adapter for a full-size one. Ports include 2xUSB-C Thunderbolt 3, one full-size USB, HDMI and a combo audio port. Bonuses include an infrared camera for Windows Hello and NumberPad. The laptop will be released on the global market in the first quarter of 2020, more detailed information is promised later.

ASUS ROG Phone II

</ img>

Now let's move from the business segment to the gaming segment. The gaming smartphone ASUS ROG Phone II was presented earlier, but now it has reached Europe, acquired prices and sales dates and an Ultimate version. Let us remind you that the smartphone has a new Snapdragon 855 Plus processor with increased frequencies and video core performance compared to the “regular” Snapdragon 855. These internals are CO cooled with a vapor chamber, plus there will be an external cooler, like its predecessor. The design of the smartphone is recognizable from the aggressive features familiar from the first model and the illuminated logo. But the ROG Phone II turned out to be less easily soiled on the back: the back cover has an unusual coating that doesn’t show much fingerprints.

</ img>

The smartphone features a 6.59-inch OLED display withresolution 2340x1080 pixels (Full HD+). The frame refresh rate is 120 Hz and the touch panel is rated at 240 Hz for maximum responsiveness. The screen is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 6. According to personal impressions, the screen is excellent and the high refresh rate has a very positive effect on perception. But so far, not all games and applications support more than 60 fps.
