The Russian Kronstadt group is testing updated Orion drones
What is known
The CEO of the company stated that the testscombat unmanned aerial vehicles will be completed before the end of 2022. The tests are now in full swing. The manager emphasized that the company has several modifications of Orion, depending on the goals of the customer. At the same time, Kronstadt can simultaneously produce several variants of a strike-reconnaissance UAV at once.
Modernized "Orion" will receive supportsatellite communications. The module will be located under the fairing. The integration of satellite communications support should help to increase the communication transmission range. The radius of application will be 250 km, and the flight duration will be 24 hours. Orion will be able to carry a payload of 200 kg.
We note that statements by Russian companies andofficials on the completion of UAV tests do not always correspond to reality. For example, the Altius strike drone, also known as Altair, has been under development for 11 years, but has not yet seen the light of day. But the CEO of the manufacturing company stole $17 million.
