In Innopolis, drones will be allowed to drive without operator control

Deputies supported the idea of organizing an experimental site for unmanned vehicles: on it

All restrictions for this type of transport will be lifted. They are also going to organize a testing site in Skolkovo.

The initiative was put forward by the company "Yandex", itsapproved by the President of the Republic Rustam Minnikhanov. As Deputy Prime Minister of Tatarstan Roman Shaikhutdinov noted, the Innopolis mayor's office and Yandex have been developing unmanned technologies for transport for three years now. But the innovation will allow you to travel without a test engineer in the passenger seat, this will take the service to a new level.

Tatarstan is the first region in Russia to hosta similar solution. Let's hope that the formation of an experimental site on the basis of Innopolis will expand the boundaries of the operability of autonomous transport and create the preconditions for the large-scale implementation of digital technologies in the transport sector.

Rustam Minnikhanov, President of the Republic of Tatarstan

If the initiative is implemented, then Innopolis will becomethe first territory in Russia and Europe without legal restrictions in the field of digital innovation. Currently, eight Yandex unmanned vehicles are moving around Innopolis: they have already made about 21 thousand autonomous trips. Engineers have not recorded a single accident caused by drones.

The launch date for autonomous vehicles without an engineer will depend on the timing of the approval of the test program in the government.
