First, cats and dogs were injected with boron-containingthe drug and then irradiated at an accelerating neutron source. This treatment is called boron neutron capture therapy (BNCT). When it is used, the boron-10 isotope accumulates in the cells of malignant tumors, and when boron and neutron interact, a nuclear reaction occurs, during which fatal damage is caused to tumor cells. Healthy people are not affected.
A total of 15 cats and dogs were treated during the experiment.

It is noted that some animals had to be irradiated twice, but in the end they remained alive and healthy.
