Recently, in the Russian-speaking segment of the Internet, a request has arisen for the creation of a large video hosting service,
which could become an alternative to YouTube.And if in the case of RuTube the attempt was not the most successful, then the VK Video platform looks much more ambitious. During the Russian Internet Forum (RIF), VK (formerly Mail.Ru Group) CEO Vladimir Kiriyenko made a statement that the project was “moving towards a model close to YouTube”. Moreover, by the end of the year a separate mobile application will be released, and VK will begin concluding partnerships with large independent services. By the way, VK already has several dedicated applications for different tasks: VK Messenger and VK Clip, which are analogues of Telegram and TikTok.
