India has tested one of the five Agni missiles amid tensions on the border with China.

India has five modifications of Agni.The missile with the longest launch range took part in the tests. It is called Agni-V, has three stages, can hit targets at a distance of up to 5400 km and is capable of carrying a nuclear warhead.
The ballistic missile was launched from the island of Abdul-Kalam. The day before, Indian authorities closed the airspace over the Bay of Bengal.

In addition to Agni-V, the line includes four more lesslong-range missiles. As you might guess, they are called Agni-I, Agni-II, Agni-III and Agni-IV. The maximum launch range is 1200 km, 3500 km, 5000 km and 4000 km respectively. All of them are medium-range ballistic missiles.
India is also working on two more missiles:Agni-P (Prime) and Agni-VI. The first will be able to hit targets at a distance of up to 2000 km, and the second – up to 12,000 km. Agni-VI will be the second intercontinental ballistic missile.
