Indian probe "Chandrayan-2" confirmed the presence of water molecules on the moon

"Chandrayaan-2" (in Sanskrit means "Lunar ship") - the second automatic interplanetary station (AIS)

) Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) for lunar exploration.

The mission's goal is to reach the satellite's orbitEarth and study it from an altitude of 100 km with the instruments of the orbiter, make a soft landing on the lunar surface and explore the Moon with the help of the scientific instruments of the lander and the Pragyan rover. The Chandrayaan-2 mission was launched on July 22, 2019. On August 20 of the same year, the station entered lunar orbit. 

Now the Chandrayaan-2 mission has detected water molecules on the lunar surface. Scientists plan to carefully analyze these materials during future exploration of the Earth's satellite.

Confirm the existence of hydroxyl groups andwater molecules on the moon succeeded thanks to the infrared spectrometer, which is installed on board Chandrayaan-2. The instrument, created to analyze the electromagnetic spectrum of the lunar surface, transmits detailed information about its mineral composition to the earth.
