Uneven “packing” of cells leads toto differences in the movement of water molecules in cancer tissue compared with healthy tissue. New synthetic correlated diffusion imaging technology highlights these differences by capturing, synthesizing and blending MRI signals with different gradient pulse strengths and synchronizing them.
Compared to standard MRI methods,Synthetic correlated diffusion imaging better delineates large cancerous tissues, making it a potentially powerful tool for physicians and radiologists, the scientists note.
