Insider: Vivo Nex 3 will get a frameless screen, occupying more than 100% of the smartphone area

Reputable mobile industry insider Ice Universe has shared a new leak that concerns the following

Vivo smartphone.

What showed

The blogger posted on his Twitter pageimage of a glass panel with 90-degree curved edges, which is supposedly designed for Vivo Nex 3. According to the blogger, the company's next smartphone may have an all-glass body, where the screen will occupy more than 100% of the space on the front panel. Engineers will achieve this effect thanks to a curved display that will extend onto the sides of the device, increasing the projected area. In addition, the device will lose cutouts for the camera and “bangs”.

“The screen-to-body ratio is over 100% based on the screen area/projected area calculation method,” Ice Universe added.

Essentially, this calculation method takes a “flatpart of the display on the front panel of the device is 100%, and everything that goes beyond the frame is taken into account as an additional projected area, where the image is also displayed. The method is funny, but rather serves for marketing, because a display that occupies 110% of the device sounds much cooler than just “bezel-less.” Moreover, according to Ice Universe himself, Samsung was preparing a similar smartphone, but closed the project.

“It has no hole or notch, it's a solid screen, and the forehead and chin are also top notch,” wrote Ice Universe.

It looks like Vivo Nex 3 will have a unibody designwith a retractable camera, but the words “one-piece screen” raise even more questions. Perhaps the blogger meant that the smartphone would have a dual screen, like the Vivo Nex Dual Display Edition, or he meant a display a la the Galaxy Edge.
