Instagram accused of collecting biometric data of users in order to sell them

Facebook is falling into the same trap again. This time, Instagram's service was accused of collecting biometrics.

user data for the sake of selling it.

Last month, a lawsuit was filed against Facebook. The applicants accused the company that the social network collects biometric data of users through tools for tagging photos. Facebook then offered to pay $650 million to settle the situation.

Now a similar lawsuit has been filed against Instagram. It is alleged that the service collected, stored and benefited from the data of more than 100 million users without their knowledge or consent. The lawsuit states that this violates Illinois privacy laws. The company may be required to pay from $1,000 to $5,000 for each violation.

The complainants also claim that the company only started informing users about the collection of personal data at the beginning of this year.
