Instead of realityOS: Apple will name the operating system for its branded AR / VR helmet xrOS

reality. Now the manufacturer has decided to change the name of the system.

An insider and Bloomberg journalist spoke about thisMark Gurman. According to Gurman, Apple has registered a new and final name for the operating system - xrOS. The abbreviation XR stands for eXtended Reality. That is, the helmet will support virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR).

Unfortunately, there are almost no details about xrOS.It is only known that it is codenamed Oak. Most likely, it will look similar to iOS. The company's proprietary ARM chip must be responsible for the operation of xrOS.

As for the helmet, it should be released infirst half of 2023. According to rumors, the gadget will receive a Sony Micro-OLED screen, multiple sensors, as well as support for proprietary services Apple TV+ and Apple Arcade. The device will cost 2000-3000 US dollars.
