IO Interactive: development of Hitman 3 is in full swing, and Hitman 2 is about to retire

Hitman series developers IO Interactive have already signed a contract with Warner Bros. to create a project for a new universe.

Still, the studio has not abandoned its main franchise and Hitman 3 is already in development.

Hitman 2 will turn one year old in November, and on this dateThe developers decided to celebrate with a major update. Players can expect the return of Elusive Target, as well as new challenges and Escalation. IO Interactive noted that this is the last big update for Hitman 2, as the studio begins to transfer employees to the development team for the next game in the universe.

“After 13 months of full support andreleasing content for HITMAN 2 at no extra cost (beyond what we've added through the Expansion Pass), we've reached a milestone where we're increasingly looking to the future. To put it bluntly, we are moving more and more developers from the HITMAN 2 team towards the next Hitman game, which is already in full swing,” IO wrote.

IO Interactive announced back in July 2019 thatplans to turn Hitman into a trilogy by starting work on a new game in the series. At the time, the studio's CEO said that the third part would be unifying, creating a feeling of a great journey for fans.

"As for the killer's world, when are we done withhim, then it will be one game with all the locations, starting from Paris in Hitman 1 to the last location in Hitman 3. These are more than 20 locations. Then we can create the grand journey experience that we are trying to achieve,” the CEO said.
