iOS 11 won't let your iPhone connect to weak Wi-Fi signals

iOS 11 automatically ignores weak or inconsistent Wi-Fi networks that appear in cafes, airports, and

other places, The Verge reports.

This new useful feature appeared on iOS 11 beta 3 and was discovered by WeatherLine app developer Ryan Jones, who reported it on his Twitter on July 16th.

If some Wi-Fi network has a bad signal, iOS 11will ignore your auto connection and will not try to connect to it. When this happens, under the network with a bad signal, the message “auto connect is disabled” will appear.

Of course, you can always manually force the device to connect to a poor Wi-Fi network by clicking on “i” to enable auto-connect.

iOS 11 may decide not to connect to the network if it has a bad signal, the connection is disconnected, or there are any other problems with it.

This feature is different from the Wi-Fi Assist introduced on iOS 9 two years ago.

Wi-Fi Assist forbade the device to stayconnected to the saved network if the signal became so weak that it could no longer be used. The new feature detects weak Wi-Fi connections and prevents your device from connecting to them.

It will be especially useful for those whoTravels or often uses Wi-Fi hotspots in public areas. And if the option “confirm connection” is turned on in your settings, this function will put an end to constant notifications with registration when you pass the cafe.
