Samsung has taken a new approach to the Galaxy Note 10 lineup this year. The line consists of Galaxy Note 10 and Note 10+. Note 10+ should be
Note 10 can be called a "budget" smartphone, since it contains several trade-offs that had to be made to reduce the cost. This is completely contrary to the essence of the Note line. Galaxy Note 10 will compete not only with the iPhone XS, but also with the iPhone 11 in September. In the meantime, we will focus on the comparison with the iPhone XS.
Design

The iPhone XS has a 2017 iPhone X design, andthis design is not good. However, thanks to the stainless steel frames, the smartphone looks premium and sits well in the hand. Galaxy Note 10 is no less premium, although it has aluminum frames.
Note 10 doesn't have a notch on the screen sinceThe front camera is located in a notch on the display. The iPhone XS notch cannot be ignored, and many still hate it. Both smartphones are IP68 certified and support wireless charging.
Galaxy Note 10 comes with a stylusS-Pen, which is also protected by IP68 certification. If you are a creative person, then you will like to use S-Pen for work. Now many functions of the smartphone can be controlled by moving the stylus through the air. This is possible thanks to the gyroscope and accelerometer built into the stylus.
Display
- iPhone XS - 5.8-inch True Tone OLED display, 2688 x 1242 (458ppi), 3D Touch, HDR10, Dolby Vision, 3D Touch
- Galaxy Note 10 - 6.3-inch rounded Infinity-O Dynamic AMOLED display, 2280 x 1080 (401ppi), HDR10, Dynamic AMOLED
The Galaxy Note 10 has a larger display than the iPhone XS, but the resolution is still greater than the second. Note 10 has a pixel density of 401ppi, while the iPhone XS has a pixel density of 458ppi.
Both smartphones have great OLED displays, but the Galaxy Note 10 is better in terms of brightness and contrast.

CPU
- iPhone XS - 7 nm A12 Bionic
- Galaxy Note 10 - 7 nm Snapdragon 855 or 7 nm Exynos 9825
Depending on the country, the Galaxy Note 10 will haveeither a 7nm Snapdragon 855 processor, or Samsung's Exynos 9825 processor. The Galaxy S10 also runs on the Snapdragon 855 processor, which remains the best among the processors for Android smartphones. The new Snapdragon 855+ was recently unveiled, but this is only a slightly improved version of the previous processor.
As for the Exynos 9825, this is an updated version of the Exynos 9820 processor in the Galaxy S10. The new processor should work more economically than the previous one.
Both processors are impressive, but they are not.as powerful as the A12 Bionic processor in the iPhone XS. Apple has managed to combine performance with efficiency, and so far no other processor has overtaken the A12 Bionic in terms of performance.
RAM and memory
- iPhone XS– 4 GB RAM | 64/2565 512 GB
- Galaxy Note 10 - 8 GB RAM | 256 GB
In this regard, Note 10 lags behind his big brother. However, it's still better than the iPhone XS. The iPhone has only 4 GB of RAM, and the Galaxy Note 10 - twice as much.
The same goes for memory. The base memory of the iPhone XS is 64 GB, and the Galaxy Note 10 is 256 GB. However, this is the maximum Note 10 memory, and the iPhone XS is also available with 512 GB of memory. Unlike Note 10+, Note 10 does not have a slot for a memory card.
Apple needs to change its tactics regarding memory options and release an iPhone 11 with at least 128 GB of base memory.
Camera
- iPhone XS - dual 12 megapixel camera with f / 1.8 and f / 2.4 apertures, optical image stabilization, Smart HDR, Focus Pixels, portrait mode with adjustable bokeh effect.
- Galaxy Note 10 - triple camera: 12 megapixels with f / 1.5 and f / 2.4, OSI; 16 megapixel wide-angle lens with f / 2.2; 12 megapixel telephoto lens with f / 2.1 and OSI. 2x optical zoom, Auto HDR, Super Speed Dual Pixel, Live Focus with adjustable bokeh effect.
Here, the forces are almost equal, judging byimage quality. The Note 10 is better technically, but the photos don't look much better than with the iPhone XS. Shooting options are more diverse thanks to the wide-angle lens. In addition, there is a night shooting mode, which the iPhone does not have.
The Galaxy Note 10 is also better with its f / 2.1 aperture. This will be especially noticeable when shooting in low light.
The front camera of the Galaxy Note 10 is better in theory, however, it greatly processes and smooths selfies, which looks unnatural. The iPhone XS does it too, but less noticeably.
Biometric authentication
- iPhone XS - Face ID
- Galaxy Note 10 - fingerprint scanner, face recognition
The iPhone XS has a TrueDepth system that provides Face ID. The technology is reliable, but not as much as Touch ID.
On Galaxy Note 10 to unlockface recognition uses the front camera. There is also a fingerprint scanner built right into the display. Samsung offers more options, but they are not as reliable as Face ID. Both face recognition and the Note 10 fingerprint scanner are relatively easy to trick.
Connection
- iPhone XS - SIM / eSIM, Gigabit LTE, Wi-Fi ac MIMO, Bluetooth 5.0, VoLTE, NFC with read mode
- Galaxy Note 10 - Dual SIM, Cat 20. LTE (2 GB / s), Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.0, VoLTE, NFC
Here, the Galaxy Note 10 is better than the iPhone XS, because it is faster in LTE and Wi-Fi.
The Galaxy Note 10 does not have a headphone jack, although Samsung previously ridiculed Apple for deciding to remove the headphone jack from the iPhone 7. Ironically, the company is now doing the same.
Battery
- iPhone XS - 3174 mAh, USB-C Fast Charging, 7.5 W Wireless Charging
- Galaxy Note 10 - 3500 mAh, 25 W fast charge, 15 W wireless charge
The Note 10 has a larger battery, and even faster wired and wireless charging. The resolution on the Note 10 is less, so it should work longer than the iPhone XS.
Price
In the US, the Galaxy Note 10 costs from $ 949 (76,990 rubles in Russia), and the iPhone XS - from $ 999 (89,481 rubles in Russia). However, for the money, Note 10 offers much more than the iPhone XS.
Buy Galaxy Note 10 is more profitable than iPhone XS. However, the main difference between the two smartphones is the system and the ecosystem. You also pay for convenient high-quality integration with other Apple products, as well as for iOS, the App Store, etc. And what would you choose: Galaxy Note or iPhone XS?
