Iran hands over 2,400 Shahed-136 kamikaze drones to Russia - President Zelensky

In two days, Russia released on Ukrainian citiesmore than a hundred cruise missiles, having spent about $1 billion on them. Part of the missiles were shot down by units of the Ukrainian Air Force. But air defense means are not enough to fully repel such massive missile strikes.

Moreover, Russia is launching not onlycruise missiles, but also Iranian-made kamikaze drones. Shahed-136s mainly fly from the Black Sea, but recently Russia sent some “flying mopeds” to Belarus in order to be able to attack the cities of the western part of Ukraine.

According to Zelensky, on the morning of October 11, less thanin an hour, air defense forces shot down seven loitering ammunition. The President added that Iran sent 2,400 Shahed-136 kamikaze drones to Russia. Although Tehran officially states that there were no deliveries.

In this regard, Zelensky stressed the importanceWestern air defense systems. He thanked Germany for accelerating the delivery of IRIS-T, recalled that the United States would soon transfer NASAMS, and called on Italy and France to provide Ukraine with SAMP / T anti-aircraft missile systems with Aster 30 missiles.
