Iran continues to develop its nuclear program. According to Bloomberg, the level of uranium enrichment has reached 84%.
What is known
International Atomic Energy Agency(IAEA) wants to understand how Iran managed to collect uranium enriched to 84%. This is the highest level ever recorded in the country. To create nuclear weapons, it remains to increase the enrichment level by 6%.
Interestingly, Iranian representatives in communication withThe IAEA has claimed that their centrifuges are capable of increasing the proportion of the 235U isotope in uranium to a maximum of 60%. Now the agency's specialists must establish whether the enrichment of uranium to 84% was a deliberate act. Experts do not exclude that the cause could be the accumulation of fuel in the pipes that connect the centrifuges.
The Iranian authorities have already commented on the material, published in Bloomberg. They argue that the publication distorts the facts. Behruz Kamalvandi, a spokesman for the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran, said that in the process of enriching uranium to 60%, particles with a higher proportion of 235U may appear. At the same time, he added that Iran did not try to enrich uranium above 60%.
