Is it true that Chrome and Safari may stop opening Russian sites due to sanctions

The head of the information security audit department at T.Hunter, Vladimir Makarov, warned

users that popular browsers such as Safari, Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, Firefox may stop revoking Russian security certificates. Discuss

Because of this, sites signed by suchcertificates will not be displayed in browsers. An example of this was already in Kazakhstan in 2019, when users were required to switch to national security certificates, but the companies that developed these browsers recognized these certificates as revoked. As a result, after 2 months, support for national certificates turned into Kazakhstan.

In the event of such a situation, the Ministry of Digital Development recommends switching to Russian-developed browsers: Yandex.Browser and Atom. However, there are other alternatives.

“There is such a technical possibility, as wealready seen on the example of Kazakhstan, but here it should be borne in mind that now there are many browsers. And in addition to the well-known Chrome, Safari, Edge and Firefox, there is also Yandex.Browser, Brave, Vivaldi, Opera and others. Therefore, in the case of blocking in some browsers, there is always an alternative,” said Vladimir Makarov.
