Is reliability important? Pixel 6 and 7 fingerprint scanner can be accelerated by front camera

Google can't seem to implement owner recognition features in Pixel smartphones: Pixel 4 line

suffered from bugs in the face scanner, and in the Pixel 6 it was completely disabled, replaced by an extremely unsuccessful finger scanner. The Pixel 7 series is already on the way, which by and large will bea minor upgrade of the "sixes", and therefore Google is expected to at least fix the "children's sores" - first of all, the identification systems. But according to new data from 9to5Google, the richest corporation is once again failing to cope with its own technology.

It is reported that Google intends to resort toextremely original method of unlocking smartphones. Instead of simply installing a high-quality and fast fingerprint scanner in the Pixel 7 and 7 Pro, the company is designing a special algorithm that will reduce the fingerprint recognition threshold (and therefore the response speed) if the front camera recognizes the owner. It is worth emphasizing that there is no talk of the return of Face Unlock: the front camera will only be an auxiliary system. True, this raises fair questions about the reliability of such a bundle, because it is not difficult to deceive a face recognition system, and a low demand for fingerprint matching can open the way for attackers.
