It turned out how interest in sex is associated with mortality in men

A study conducted by scientists from Yamagata University in Japan found that the lack of interest in

 sex is an indicator of the risk of early death in men. The connection between them was established after studying a population of almost 21,000 people over six years.

Interest or lack thereof in sex was assessedusing a self-administered questionnaire. Then, a few years later, the researchers conducted a survey. A total of 20,969 people over 40 years of age took part in the study; the cohort consisted of 8,558 men and 12,411 women.

During the study, 503 people died.The scientists found that mortality from cancer and other causes was higher in men who reported a lack of sexual interest. This association persisted even when it was controlled for other factors, including age, medical conditions (such as hypertension), and lifestyle factors (smoking and alcohol consumption).

The study also found that women are more likely toreported a lack of interest in sex: 16% versus 8% for men. However, researchers did not find any connection between this and mortality in women.

In recent years, sexual activityconsidered as one of the components of healthy aging. Lack or lack of interest in sexual activity may be a sign of underlying health problems.

The study results were published in the journal PLOS One.
