The material that makes up the Sun and the rest of its system was formed by collapse
“Earlier, the timing of the formation of our Solarthe systems were not known, ”said LLNL cosmochemist Greg Brenneka, lead author of the paper. “This work shows that the collapse that led to the formation of the solar system happened very quickly, in less than 200,000 years. If we scale it all down to human lifespan, the formation of the solar system would be comparable to a pregnancy of about 12 hours instead of nine months. It was a very fast process. "
Oldest dated solids inIn the solar system, these are important structural elements of meteorites - inclusions rich in calcium and aluminum (calcium-aluminum-rich inclusion, CAI). These inclusions ranging in size from a micrometer to a centimeter in meteorites were formed in a high-temperature environment, more than 1300 K (1027 ° C) near the young Sun. They were then transported to the region where the carbonaceous chondritic meteorites (and their parent bodies) formed. Most CAIs formed 4.567 billion years ago, over a period of roughly 40,000 to 200,000 years.
An international team of scientists measured the isotopicthe composition of molybdenum (Mo) and the composition of trace elements of various CAIs taken from carbonaceous chondritic meteorites, including "Allende". It is the largest carbonaceous chondrite found on Earth. They found that the different isotopic compositions of Mo in CAI spanned the entire range of material that formed in the protoplanetary disk. Based on these data, they concluded that these inclusions must have formed during the collapse of the clouds.
Observed time period of accretion (growth)there are many more stars (1-2 million years) than were required to form CAI. Thus, scientists were able to accurately determine which astronomical phase in the formation of the Solar System was recorded by the appearance of inclusions rich in calcium and aluminum. And, ultimately, how quickly the material that makes up the solar system was formed.
