Italy is preparing to provide Ukraine with one of the most modern anti-aircraft missile systems. We're talking about SAMP/T.
What is known
Ukraine in 2022 received severalEuropean anti-aircraft missile systems. Among the most modern are the German IRIS-T and the Norwegian NASAMS. The Franco-Italian SAMP/T system will soon join them.
Now the Italian side, together withFrench partners are working on the elimination of some "technical problems", which will open the door to the shipment of SAMP/T to Ukraine. This was announced by Antonio Tajani, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Italy.
What kind of technical issues are we talking about?currently unknown. At the same time, the Italian media, citing anonymous sources, argue that some politicians are against the transfer of SAMP/T to Ukraine. Another obstacle may be that Italy has only five systems, two of which are already deployed in other countries - in Kuwait and Slovakia.
