Japan will create long-range missiles for submarines - they can strike at 1200 km

The Japanese government has approved the development of long-range missiles for naval submarines.

In the near future, the decision will be made officially and set out in three security documents.

What is known

The Land of the Rising Sun plansmodify the Type 12 missile, increasing its range from 200 km to 1200 km. An improved version will be created within a few years. The submarines will be equipped with vertical launch systems. At the moment, not a single Japanese submarine can boast of this. In total, 21 submarines are in service.

In addition to the Type 12 upgrade, Japan wants to getUS Raytheon Tomahawk cruise missiles. The other day it became known that the cost of one Block V-level missile is approximately $1.5 million. The launch range reaches 1600 km. Japan wants to buy 500 units.

Japan to double spending within five yearson defense. Tokyo plans to acquire 13 aerial refueling and transport aircraft, five E2D Hawkeye early warning aircraft and one electronic warfare aircraft. Patriot PAC 3 is also being upgraded to counter Chinese DF-17 ballistic missiles.
