Konami had a great year thanks to games you've never heard of

Konami announced that its latest fiscal year (April 2021 – March 2022) was the most profitable in the company's history

over a long distance.The Japanese publisher had operating income of 74.4 billion Japanese yen, approximately $577 million, and net income of 54.8 billion yen, or $425 million.

Despite the opinion of those that Konami no longer makesnormal games, but only absolutely “any” projects and financial results tell a different story. However, it is true that most of the company's successes are neither in Europe nor in the West.

The company's latest big success isYu-Gi-Oh Master Duel, released on Steam in January. Since then, this game has amassed over 30 million players and is sure to remain popular for many years to come. Konami also made a big profit with Momtaro Detetsu, which was only available on Switch in Japan and sold over 3.5 million copies.

Another notable element of these financial results is the Metal Gear series, which sold 58.3 million units, making it the second-largest selling series behind Winning Eleven/eFotball.
