Lara Croft is in good hands: Crystal Dynamics now owns exclusive rights to the Tomb Raider series

The acquisition of a number of Western game studios by the Embracer Group holding has recently been completed.

Representatives of Crystal Dynamics said that after leaving Square Enix, they received full control over the rights to the Tomb Raider and Legacy of Kain franchises.

As such, Crystal Dynamics, which worked on the last three Tomb Raider games, now has full control over the franchise and will continue to release Lara Croft games.

Recall that a few months ago, Crystal Dynamics announced that it was working on a new part of Tomb Raider. The project is being created on the Unreal Engine 5 engine, and its release will not take place soon.

As for the future of the Legacy of Kain series, the developers have not yet commented, but it cannot be ruled out that Crystal Dynamics will decide to revive this franchise, although its last part was released 18 years ago.
