This was announced by the Secretary of the Ministry of DefenseJanis Garisons. The Latvian government hopes to receive the first missile systems by 2025. At the same time, the defense department is aware that deliveries of HIMARS may be delayed due to high demand from Ukraine.
Purchase of M142 multiple launch rocket systemsHIMARS is a common project of all Baltic countries. We previously wrote that Estonia wants to purchase MLRS and missiles, including ATACMS with a launch range of 300 km. The government will allocate €500,000,000 for this.
The Secretary of the Latvian Ministry of Defense announcedsending a request to the United States government regarding the availability and cost of the M142 HIMARS. A response is expected by the end of summer. How many rocket systems Latvia wants to purchase has not yet been specified, but more than €300,000,000 will be allocated for the purchase.
