LEO Coupe - a flying car with jet engines and a maximum speed of 400 km / h

LEO Flight has unveiled a prototype of the LEO Coupe flying car.

is preparing for flight tests, which will take place at the end of the summer.

What is known

The manufacturer is confident that his development isthe way to the most efficient use of resources in the field of creating air taxis with vertical takeoff and landing. The LEO Coupe was announced last year. Externally, the car resembles a sports car.

The key disadvantage of LEO Coupe arebox-shaped wings that have little lift. The car will consume a lot of energy to accelerate, since the lift begins to keep it only at a speed of 185 km / h.

The engines, which provide level flight, consume 9 kW at a thrust of 27.2 kg or 54 kW at peak power. The maximum speed of the LEO Coupe will be 400 km/h, and the flight range will be 480 km.

The final sample of the flying car will receive200 vertical jet engines versus 75 for the prototype. The diameter of each is 11 cm. LEO Coupe will be able to carry three passengers with a total weight of 231 kg.

Flight tests of the car are scheduled for August2022. During the tests, LEO Flight will try to prove the advantage of using a large number of motors, which is manifested in the low current load on each motor and on the electronics.
