LG unveils bed with hidden transparent OLED TV

LG Display has developed its first prototype of a 55-inch transparent OLED display that can be

place at the foot of the bed. LG Display representatives said that the new screen built into the bed provides 40 percent transparency. Conventional transparent LCD displays have reached a maximum of 10%, the company says.

LG's new screen located at the footbed, enclosed in a panel with built-in speakers. The company noted that the transparent OLED screen can also be moved around the house if the user wants to place the TV outside the bedroom.

The company sees this as a smart home device that could one day be used in public places like restaurants and transportation.

“Transparent OLED is a technology that"maximizes the benefits of OLED and can be used in stores, shopping malls, architecture and even autonomous vehicles, subway trains and airplanes," said Jong-Sun Park, LG spokesman.  “The screen could evolve into the next generation of displays that could change the way we think about displays.”
