Lithuania raised 14 million euros for radars for Ukraine - almost 3 times more than planned

They planned to raise 5 million euros, but the final amount turned out to be almost 3 times more - 14 million euros.

“As the anniversary of large-scale war approachesThe television and radio company LRT together with the Organizations “Blue/Yellow”, “Laisvės TV”, “1K fondas” and “Stiprūs kartu” (“Strong Together”) invited us to unite and take part in the “RADAROM” campaign. Funds raised during the campaign were used to purchase functional tactical radars,” states the organizers’ website.

The purpose of radars is to monitor air traffic.the space around objects of strategic importance to Ukraine, such as power plants, water towers, etc., which help ensure that life for Ukrainians is as normal as possible during times of war. The cost of one radar installation is about 1 million euros.

“14 million euros from Lithuanians for the purchase of radars forprotection of Ukraine. In four weeks. This is from us. For now. We will be back,” wrote one of the organizers of the gathering, journalist Andrius Tapinas, on Twitter.
