Arvydas Anusauskas, MinisterDefense of Lithuania, officially confirmed the information that Vilnius is joining the CAESAR Mk II program. As previously reported, Lithuania will receive 18 Nexter self-propelled artillery mounts.
The contract value will be €110-150 million($117.5-160 million). Deliveries of new generation self-propelled artillery mounts are scheduled for 2027. Earlier, France and Belgium ordered CAESAR Mk II howitzers.
Improved version of CAESAR will be equipped with 155-mmgun with a barrel length of 52 caliber. The maximum firing range will be 40 km. The howitzer will be based on the ARQUUS wheeled chassis with a 460 horsepower engine.
