The Pentagon announced the contract at its officialwebsite. Lockheed Martin received $2,451,432,304 to produce the PAC-3 missile interceptor. Work will take place at the Texas plant over the next (almost) seven years, until December 31, 2029. The number of missile interceptors is not specified.
US exports MIM-104 PATRIOT at about twodozen countries. In addition to Ukraine, anti-aircraft missile systems are used by the armed forces of Germany, Greece, Spain, Japan, Israel, Poland, Jordan, the Netherlands, Qatar, Romania, South Korea, Saudi Arabia, Sweden, Taiwan, the United Arab Emirates and Kuwait.
The PAC-3 missile interceptor can destroy air threats at a maximum altitude of 40 km (130,000 ft). Compared to PAC-2, this figure has doubled.
