The US Navy has signed a contract with Lockheed Martin to build MH-60R helicopters for Australia.

The contract amount was $503.7 million.The United States Department of State approved the deal in the fall of 2021. The initial estimated value of the contract was almost $1 billion. According to the deal, Australia will receive 12 helicopters by October 2026.

Thus, the MH-60R fleet will be increased to 36units. The state received the first 24 helicopters between 2013 and 2016. The contract amount was A$3 billion ($2.06 billion). As you can see, in nine years the cost of helicopters has halved.
