Experts from NASA analyzed information from eyewitnesses, and also studied data from cameras in western North Carolina. The meteor was first seen over the city of Greenville.
According to NASA, the car was flying at a speed of 53 thousand.km/h and was visible in the night sky for only 3.5 seconds. After that, it disintegrated in the atmosphere 45 km above Macclesfield. It is not yet known for sure whether it was a meteorite or space debris.
A meteor darted across the sky and was visible in parts of North Carolina Wednesday night and shortly after that, NASA's Crew-3 rocket launched.

Residents of St. Petersburg and Karelia on the night from 11 to 12October also noticed a bright flash in the sky. Most likely, this is a fireball - a bright meteor, astronomers say. It was filmed from different areas of St. Petersburg.
