According to the International Meteororganizations, the Sar2667 meteoroid was first observed by Kristian Sarnecki from the GINOP KHK observatory in Hungary almost 7 hours before the impact. The discovery was quickly confirmed by astronomers at the Vishnjan Observatory in Croatia, after which at least 8 observatories observed its movement.

Due to its small size, the meteoroid did not representdanger to the Earth - it formed a fireball and, according to preliminary data, completely burned out in the atmosphere of our planet. But the rare discovery testifies to the expansion of opportunities for astronomical observation. The fact that astronomers have learned to identify small objects before impact shows that the network for searching for potentially dangerous near-Earth objects is working effectively.
The researchers note that this is only the seventhonce a small object can be seen before a collision, accurately predict its trajectory, time and place of collision with the earth's atmosphere. The previous similar event occurred on November 19, 2022. Then astronomers discovered a new celestial body 2022 WJ1 about three hours before the collision.
