Look at the most detailed portrait of the Sun at 164 million pixels

Famous astrophotographer Andrew McCarthy made a new “portrait” of the Sun. The image resolution is

164 megapixels. One megapixel is a million pixels that form a digital image.

The photo is very detailed. It shows a group of sunspots facing the Earth. As the author of the photo writes, this took him “many hours.” For the job, he used a modified telescope.

“Yesterday I spent several hours trying tocapture an intricately detailed photo of the sun, captured using a specially modified telescope. Here it is in full 164 megapixel resolution, so you can see every little detail. A group of sunspots is currently pointing directly at the Earth!” writes the author.
